Welcome to Nursery
This year your child will be working with Mrs Evans (Monday-Wednesday), Mrs Doherty (Wednesday – Friday), Tracy McDonagh and Mrs Parish.
Our first topic will be ‘Nursery Rhymes and Traditional Tales’.
Please remember to label your child’s uniform, (especially their jumpers and cardigans), and encourage them to put jumpers/cardigans in their tray if they take them off.
Please ensure your child has a kit bag with a couple of spare full sets of clothes including socks and underwear. This is in case of toileting accidents and as well as for messy activities.
When your child starts to stay for dinner you and your child can choose which option they would like for that day.
Entrance to School
Please line up with your child at the wooden gate within the nursery playground. A member of staff will come and open the gate at 8.55.
Please do not allow your children to play on any of the equipment for health and safety reasons.
Reading and Library
We place great emphasis on books and storytelling and your role in this is also very important. You can help with this by reading your child a bedtime story every night. Please ensure that your child has their book bag in school every day, while they might not start a reading book until later in the year we will use it so send home work/pictures or school letters.Nursery will visit the school library on Wednesdays when your child will choose a book to borrow for the week. Please ensure your child brings it back the following week so they can swap it for a new one.
School Fund & Toast
School fund and toast is £1.25 a week and will be collected every Monday in the classroom. It is possible to pay half termly. Please remember this as it helps subsidise trips and buy equipment for the children.
Your child will receive a piece of fruit each day, usually in the afternoon.
Milk & Water Bottles
Milk in Nursery Class is free. Please let us know if you do not wish your child to have milk. Water is always available. Your child is welcome to bring their own, named water bottle and we ask you to take it home at the end of the day and bring it back refreshed the next day.
Collecting from School
If you have other children in the school please collect your nursery children first. We open the gate at 3.10pm. The collection point is the same as in the morning.
If you are late to school, please take your child to the school office to register and explain why you are late. After using the breakfast cafe, please walk round to the nursery gate. If you have any questions or worries then please come in and see us either between 8:45am – 8:55am or after school.
If these times are not possible please contact the office to make an appointment.
We hope your children will be very happy in Nursery, and we look forward to working with them.
Kind regards, Mrs Evans and Mrs Doherty
