Year 2
Welcome to Year 2
This year your child will be working with Miss Richardson, Miss Harris and Miss Wovenden. Your child will continue to develop their English and Maths skills, as well as studying all curriculum areas throughout the year. We will be settling pupils back into school routines over the first couple of weeks and will focus on their wellbeing.
PE
PE lessons will be on a Tuesday, so please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit and appropriate footwear to school on that day. The PE kit consists of pumps/trainers, blue shorts / jogging bottoms and a plain white T-shirt. PE lessons will be outdoors until further notice.
Playtime & Snacks
Your child will receive a piece of fruit each day at morning break. If you wish your child to have milk, please order this from the office one half term in advance otherwise only water can be drunk. Toast is available at playtime. This must be pre-paid for using ParentPay each half term
Entrance to School
Pupils in year 2 will enter through and can be picked up from the classroom door after 3:15. The gates will be opened at 8:45 in the morning and 3:10pm in the afternoon.
Register is taken at 8:55 and classroom doors will be locked at this time. If you are late to school, please take your child to the school office to register and explain why you are late. You will not be able to accompany your child to the classroom.
If you have any questions or worries, then please phone the office and they may be able to answer your concern or make a telephone appointment.

Reading and Homework
Reading
It is very important that your child reads for 20 minutes every night, and their reading record book is completed to show this. Some books that your child takes home will be to practice reading skills, others are for you to share with your child. We will keep records of the books your child has read in school. It is also very important that your child has their book in school on Tuesday and Thursdays as this is the allocated book change day for year 2.
Maths
This year our school will continue with fluency Maths homework. Every Monday your child’s fact focus (this could be number bonds or times tables) will be communicated to you. Their homework is to practice them as they will be tested on them on Friday afternoons. Parent handbooks have been created and emailed to you with lots of ideas on how to help your child practice their facts. If you would like a paper copy please request one from the class teacher.
School Uniform
Please remember to label your child’s uniform, especially their jumpers, cardigans and coats.

School Fund
School fund is 50p per week. Please contribute through Parent Pay each half term. Please remember this as it helps subsidise trips and buy equipment for the children, such as certificates and playtime games.
