Welcome to Year 3
We hope your child is looking forward to returning to school next week. In addition to the parent information sent out last week, here are details regarding year 3.
This year your child will be working with Miss Gregory, Lisa B and Marissa. Your child will continue to develop their English and Maths skills as well as studying various topics throughout the year. Due to COVID-19 we will be settling pupils back into school routines over the first couple of weeks and will focus on their wellbeing.
Our first class topic is Healthy Living.
PE lessons will be on a Friday so please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit and appropriate footwear to school on that day. The PE kit consists of a bag that contains pumps/trainers, blue / black shorts / jogging bottoms and a plain white T-shirt which are clearly labelled with your child’s name. PE lessons will be outdoors until further notice.
Playtime & Snacks
Your child will receive a piece of fruit each day at morning break. If you wish your child to have milk, please order this from the office one half term in advance otherwise only water can be drunk. (Pupils who receive free school meals can request milk). Toast is available at playtime- this must be pre-paid for using ParentPay at a cost of £5.25 per half term.
Entrance to School
Due to COVID-19 we have revised entry and exit routines.
Pupils in Year Three will enter through the Middle Gate and can be picked up from the classroom door at 3.15pm.
Please ensure you observe social distancing when dropping off and picking up your child.
If you have any questions or worries, then please phone the office and they may be able to answer your concern or make a telephone appointment.
We hope your children will be very happy in Year 3 and we look forward to working with them.
Reading and Homework
Reading books will still be taken home, however on their return to school, they will be placed in a box and left for 72 hours before returning to the shelves. Pupils will initially take 2 books home each week.
It is very important that your child reads for 20 minutes every night, and their reading record book is completed to show this. Due to COVID-19 for the time being reading records will remain at home. We will keep records of the books your child has read in school. It is also very important that your child has their book in school on
Wednesday. This is the allocated book change day for Year Three.
If your child has a reading book at home, please return it to school.
Please remember to label your child’s uniform, especially their jumpers and cardigans.
School fund is £3.50 per half term and should be paid through ParentPay.
Please remember this helps subsidise trips and buy equipment for the children, such as certificates and playtime games.
