Welcome to Year 4
In addition to the parent information sent out last week, here are details regarding year 4.
This year your child will be working with Mrs Mansell, Miss Warburton, Mr Sloane, Mrs Read and Miss Brough. Your child will continue to develop their English and Maths skills as well as studying various topics throughout the year. Due to COVID-19 we will be settling pupils back into school routines over the first couple of weeks and will focus on their wellbeing. Our first class topic is ‘Our Local Area’ as well as exploring some animal habitats.
PE lessons will be on a Tuesday so please ensure your child is wearing their PE kit and appropriate footwear to school on that day. The PE kit consists of pumps/trainers, blue / black shorts / jogging bottoms and a plain white T-shirt which are clearly labelled with your child’s name. PE lessons will be outdoors until further notice.
In Year 4 the children will attend swimming lessons every Tuesday at the local leisure centre. A separate letter has been issued in regards to this. Children can still attend school on Tuesday wearing PE kit as this should make getting changed for swimming much easier.
Playtime & Snacks
Your child will receive a piece of fruit each day at morning break. If you wish your child to have milk, please order this from the office one half term in advance otherwise only water can be drunk. Toast is available at playtime- this must be pre-paid using parent Pay at a cost of £5.25 per half term.
Entrance to School
Due to COVID-19 we have revised entry and exit routines.
Pupils in year 4 will enter through MAIN GATE and can be picked up from the classroom door between 3:15 and 3:25pm.
Please ensure you observe social distancing when picking up your child.
If you are late to school, please take your child to the school office to register and explain why you are late. You will not be able to accompany your child to the classroom.
If you have any questions or worries, then please phone or email the office and they may be able to help or make a telephone appointment with me.
We hope your children will be very happy in Year 4, and we look forward to working with them.
Reading and Homework
Reading books will still be taken home, however on their return to school, they will be placed in a box and left for 72 hours before returning to the shelves. Pupils will initially take 2 books home each week.
If your child has a reading book at home, please return it to school.
It is very important that your child reads for 20 minutes every night, and their reading record book is completed to show this. Due to COVID-19 for the time being reading records will remain at home. We will keep records of the books your child has read in school. It is also very important that your child has their book in school on Wednesday. This is the allocated book change day for Year 4.
Please remember to label your child’s uniform, especially their jumpers and cardigans.
School fund is £3.50 per half term and can be paid through Parent Pay. Please remember this as it helps subsidise trips and buy equipment for the children, such as certificates and playtime games.
